Field survey results of cotton growth in Hengshui City in 2021
According to the recent field survey conducted by the Hebei Hengshui Monitoring Station of the National Cotton Market Monitoring System on the growth of cotton in Hengshui City in 2021, the current growth and development of cotton is basically the same as the same period last year.
According to field observations, the current cotton plant height is generally 65-80 cm, which is basically the same as the same period last year. The average number of fruiting branches per plant was 5.7, an average increase of 0.6 over the same period last year; the average number of buds per plant was 10.2, an average decrease of 0.1 compared with the same period last year; there are currently no cotton plants blooming, and no young bolls have appeared.
According to cotton farmers, there has been only one effective rainfall since June, and the soil showed mild drought like the same period last year, and cotton growth was affected. Although the current cotton growth is at the same level as the same period last year, the growth indicators for the two years have been lower than normal. According to visual observation, there are aphids in the cotton fields, and the pests are mildly occurring. At the same time, there are no yellow and wilt diseased plants in the cotton fields.
Local cotton farmers said that their psychological expectations for seed cotton this year are 3.80-4.00 yuan/jin, an increase of 0.50-0.80 yuan/jin over the same period last year. Cotton farmers’ psychological expectations for price increases are mainly due to the following two reasons. One is that the price of seed cotton in the later period has been rising due to the impact of the epidemic at the beginning of the year, and cotton farmers basically sold the seed cotton when the price is low; second, if the price of seed cotton this year is lower than expected, local cotton farmers Cotton revenue will still be reduced, and it is expected that the decline in local cotton planting area may expand next year.
Analyzed from the current cotton growth indicators, cotton field mild drought elephants, mild insect pests, etc., it is predicted that the yield this year will be around 245 kg, a decrease of 5.3 kg or 2.12% from the predicted value in the same period last year.
