Production technology and application of polypropylene staple fiber

Polypropylene staple fiber is a synthetic fiber made of isotactic polypropylene, which is called polypropylene in China.


Industrial use

Polypropylene staple fiber has the advantages of high strength, good toughness, good chemical and microbial resistance, low price and so on, so it is widely used in rope, fishing net, safety belt, luggage belt, safety net, sewing thread, cable sheath, geotextile, press cloth, felt and papermaking and other industrial fields of paper reinforcement material.

The use of polypropylene staple fiber has high strength, acid and alkali resistance, microbial resistance, dry and wet strength and other excellent characteristics, manufacturing polypropylene woven geotextiles, construction on the soft soil foundation of civil engineering (such as DAMS, reservoirs, roads, railways, etc.) play a strengthening role, and make the geotextile bearing load distribution uniform, the subgrade settlement uniform, reduce ground cracks. The use of woven polypropylene geotextiles can stabilize the slope, reduce the collapse of the slope, shorten the construction cycle, extend the service life of the slope. When the load is large, the composite geotextiles based on woven geotextiles and nonwoven geotextiles can be used. Polypropylene short fiber can be used as concrete, plastering and other filling materials, improve the impact resistance of concrete, waterproof and heat insulation.


Polypropylene fiber is generally divided into monofilament and mesh two specifications, its physical properties are basically the same. That is, polypropylene short fiber is insoluble in water, tasteless, non-toxic, density is about 0.91g/75px, melting point is about 160℃, ignition point is about 580℃, good heat resistance, good electrical conductivity, low thermal conductivity, acid and alkali resistance is very high. In order to improve the surface adhesion between fiber and concrete, the fiber surface is treated with special technology.


The production process of polypropylene staple fiber mainly adopts porous, low speed and continuous process, namely short spinning process. Polypropylene staple fiber and cotton blend, can be made into c cotton muslin, sheets, that is, fiber and viscose blend can be made into blankets, polypropylene pure spinning and wool yarn blend, polypropylene blanket, polypropylene cotton smoke filter. The fiber thickness of sanitary products is 1.5-2.5dtex, and the fiber thickness of floor fabrics is 5-10 dtex. The length of an optical fiber ranges from 1.5 mm to 200.0 mm depending on the purpose of the optical fiber. Staple fiber lengths are 1.5-200.0 mm for concrete, 40.0 mm for diapers, and 60.0 mm for floor fabrics.
