Polypropylene staple fiber is currently widely used in geotextiles, sanitary materials, filter cloths, cool cloths, various non-woven fabrics, automotive interiors, spinning, carpets, engineering materials, composite materials, filling materials, sound insulation, felt products and other industries.

Polypropylene staple fiber, also known as PP fiber or polypropylene. Polypropylene staple fiber is made of propylene as raw material and is made by a one-step short-range spinning process. Polypropylene began industrial production in 1957. Since the raw material only needs propylene, the source is relatively abundant, cheap, and the production process is simple, it is currently a relatively cheap synthetic fiber. Polypropylene has good performance and a rapid development speed. Its output is second only to polyester, nylon, acrylic, etc. worldwide.

Do you know the characteristics and uses of Polypropylene staple fiber?

Relative density: Polypropylene has the lowest relative density among all synthetic fibers, about 0.91g/cm3, so it is extremely light and the fiber per unit weight can cover a large area.

Strength: The strength of polypropylene is similar to that of polyester and nylon, which are medium- and high-strength synthetic fibers, but its strength hardly changes when wet, which is better than nylon.

Wear resistance and corrosion resistance: Polypropylene's flat wear resistance is second only to nylon, but its bending wear resistance is slightly worse. Corrosion resistance: It has significant stability to inorganic acids and alkalis.

Hygroscopicity and dyeability: Polypropylene hardly absorbs moisture, its moisture regain is less than 0.03%, the fabric shrinkage rate is small, and fine-denier polypropylene has a strong wicking effect. The dyeing fastness is poor, and ordinary fuels cannot dye it.

Electrical insulation and warmth retention: Polypropylene has a high resistivity (7×10Ω.cm) and a low thermal conductivity. Compared with other chemical fibers, polypropylene has good electrical insulation and warmth retention, but it is easy to generate static electricity during processing.

Heat resistance and aging resistance: Polypropylene has a low melting point (165~173℃) and poor stability to light and heat. Therefore, polypropylene has poor heat resistance and aging resistance and is not resistant to ironing. However, its anti-aging properties can be improved by adding anti-aging agents during spinning.

In addition, polypropylene, like other synthetic fibers, is not easy to mold, rot, or be eaten by insects.

Hubei Botao Synthetic Fiber Co., Ltd. was established in November 2002 and is located in Jingmen High-tech Industrial Development Zone, covering an area of 300,000 square meters. having 5 subsidiaries. It is a manufacturing enterprise specializing in the production and sales of polypropylene fiber, polyester fiber, BI-CO fiber,PE fiber, polylactic acid staple fiber and various non-woven fabrics. The products are mainly used for automotive interiors, geotextiles, carpets, filtration, hygiene, spinning and other industries. The output of polyproplylene staple fiber is more than 150,000 tons, polyester staple fiber 20,000 tons. For 5 consecutive years, sales revenue and market share ranked the top three. The company has been deeply involved in the field of polypropylene fiber manufacturing for more than 20 years and It is currently one of the top three suppliers of polypropylene staple fiber production capacity in China. On December 25, 2024, the company was successfully obtained the approval letter for listing from the National Equities Exchange and Quotations Company.
