[Vietnam's textile and apparel exports are expected to drop by 10-15% in 2020]

          According to the situation provided by the Vietnam Cotton Yarn Association, in June 2020, Vietnam's textile and apparel exports were US$2.57 billion, an increase of 17.06% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 24.69%. The total textile exports from January to June this year were 15.34 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 16.63% year-on-year, and a total decrease of 3.06 billion U.S. dollars, of which clothing decreased by 2.34 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 76.49%.


   From January to June, Vietnam’s fiber and yarn exports were 723,000 tons with a value of US$1.59 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 9.3% and 21.2% respectively. The export value of clothing was US$12.76 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 15.5%. The export of industrial fabrics was US$188 million, a year-on-year decrease of 39.6%. The export of textile and clothing materials was US$791 million, a year-on-year decrease of 17.3%.


   In the first half of this year, the unpredictable development of the new crown epidemic and the uncertainty of Sino-US relations have had a great impact on Vietnam's textile and apparel exports. It is estimated that Vietnam's textile and apparel exports in 2020 will be 333.6 billion U.S. dollars, down 10-15% year-on-year.
