"We are currently working hard to catch up and recover the time delayed this month." As the production director of a textile export enterprise in Shandong Province, Zhao Changwei has his own views on the production of the entire enterprise. "At the end of March and early April This is the most difficult time for us. Before the outbreak of the epidemic, all our workers ate and lived in the company, and no one could go home, which ensured our production capacity; but due to logistics reasons, the transportation of some of our raw materials appeared. The problem is that the inventory is not enough to guarantee production, which brings difficulties and some other potential risks to our export, but we finally solved most of the problems with the help of the government and the industry and ensured the export, which is the most convenient point. Our whole company is happy."

The experience of Zhao Changwei's company is a microcosm of the recent stage of many textile and garment enterprises in China. Although affected by the epidemic, they have overcome difficulties with the efforts of all parties. This is reflected in the production and operation of textiles and garments in Shandong Province. In the export trade of textile and clothing.

Despite the impact of the epidemic, the export scale of domestic textile enterprises has reached a new high in the same period. Under the joint support of factors such as the continuous recovery of overseas market demand, the force of the country's "stabilizing foreign trade" policy, and the rise in international bulk commodity prices, my country's textile and apparel exports have achieved good growth. According to China Customs data, in the first quarter, my country's textile and apparel exports reached US$72.25 billion, an increase of 11% year-on-year, and the scale of increased exports reached the highest level in the same period of the previous year. With the gradual recovery of the textile supply chain in Southeast Asia and other countries, the demand for yarn and fabric related accessories has rebounded significantly. my country's textile exports have reached a new high of US$36.57 billion in the same period, an increase of 15.1% year-on-year. The terminal demand in the international market is basically stable. In the first quarter, my country's clothing exports reached 35.68 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%. The implementation of the "Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership" (RCEP) provides a new competitiveness display platform for my country's textile industry chain. In the first quarter, my country's textile and apparel exports to the other 14 member countries of RCEP totaled 21.4 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 12.3% , accounting for 29.6% of my country's total exports of textiles and clothing to the world in the same period.

According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, from January to April 2022, the national textile and apparel export was 95.84 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 8.6% (a year-on-year increase of 6.4% in RMB), a decrease of 2.6 percentage points from the export growth rate in the first quarter. Among them, the export of textiles was 48.82 billion US dollars, an increase of 11.1% year-on-year (an 8.9% year-on-year increase in RMB); the clothing export was 47.02 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6.2% (a 4.0% year-on-year increase in RMB).

In April, my country's textile and apparel exports reached US$23.59 billion, a month-on-month increase of 7.0% and a year-on-year increase of 1.6% (in RMB terms, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2%), showing strong resilience. Among them, the export of textiles was 12.26 billion US dollars, an increase of 0.9% year-on-year (a decrease of 0.9% year-on-year in RMB). Clothing exports were US$11.33 billion, up 2.4% year-on-year (in RMB terms, up 0.5% year-on-year), but the growth rate dropped 8.5 percentage points from the previous month.

China Textile International Capacity Cooperation Enterprise Alliance analysis believes that under the situation that my country's foreign trade development is facing an increasingly complex and severe external environment, my country's export trade volume of goods from January to April increased by 12.5% year-on-year (in US dollars), reflecting China's strong economic resilience, It has the characteristics of sufficient potential and wide room for maneuver. However, since the second quarter, the textile and garment industry has been affected by the epidemic in many places, and foreign trade has been under greater downward pressure. Only from the export performance in April, the growth rate of my country's textile and apparel exports (1.6% in US dollars) fell by 15.2 percentage points compared with March.

The Industry Department of China National Textile and Apparel Council believes that the constraints on global industrial production, international trade and market liquidity are more prominent, which will continue to restrict the recovery of market consumption capacity and the improvement of residents' consumer confidence. With the gradual recovery of the overseas textile supply chain, the adjustment of the international procurement pattern will also be accelerated. my country's textile industry will face a situation of intensified competition, and the export pressure will increase significantly.
