Among various synthetic fibers, polypropylene staple fibers have gradually become common materials in both textile and non-textile fields due to their light weight and fast-drying characteristics. Its density is relatively low among common fibers, allowing it to float on water. This characteristic enables it to be used in water-floating products and lightweight packaging materials.

The moisture absorption of polypropylene staple fibers is very weak, but the core absorption effect is significant. Water conducts and evaporates rapidly along the surface of the fibers, making them suitable for making sports socks, summer clothing linings, and other fabrics that need to keep the body surface dry. At the same time, this fiber has physical properties of being resistant to acid and alkali and resisting mold, and when used in geotextiles and drainage boards, it can reduce the erosion of the underground environment on the material structure.

Polypropylene staple fibers are commonly used as reinforcing materials in the industrial field. For instance, when mixed with resin and then hot-pressed, they can enhance the impact resistance of components in automotive interior parts; adding an appropriate amount of fibers to building mortar can reduce micro-cracks caused by plastic shrinkage. Additionally, due to its lower melting point, polypropylene short fibers can be bonded with other materials through heating without the need for additional adhesives, which reduces the processing cost of composite materials.

From the perspective of recycling,Polypropylene staple fibers products can be reused through the melt regeneration process. Some factories regranulate the production waste to produce low-value-added filling cotton or cleaning brush filaments, thereby extending the material's lifecycle. However, it should be noted that the light resistance of polypropylene short fibers is relatively poor. When exposed to outdoor environments for a long time, it is recommended to add UV stabilizers or perform surface coating treatment.

The specifications of Polypropylene staple fibers cover a wide range, from 1.5D to over 100D. Fine denier fibers are suitable for cotton-like and wool-like fabrics, while coarse denier fibers are mostly used in mattress padding, sofa fillers, and other scenarios that require elastic support. When choosing a specific specification, it is advisable to match it with the softness and rebound requirements of the product.
